This project will provide a new science and outreach center along with intern housing at the Cedar Creek Natural History Area. Successful research and the steady growth of activities have severely overtaxed the current facility's research and housing infrastructure, and the lack of outreach facilities is limiting researchers' ability to share the results and impact of research projects. The 5,400 acre ecological research site located in East Bethel, Minnesota has been owned by the University of Minnesota since 1929. In 1981, only a handful of researchers worked at CCNHA. During the summer of 2006 more than 130 faculty, post-doctoral researchers, graduate students, staff, and undergraduate researcher interns were scheduled to work there.
