When complete, the Biomedical Discovery District will provide the buildings and related infrastructure to house as many as 1,200 new faculty researchers and 480 research assistants and additional staff, thereby supporting the University’s goal of being among the top three public research institutions in the world.
The Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR) Renovation and Expansion is the first project in the Biomedical Research Facilities Program approved by 2008 legislature. It will provide approximately 65,000 gross square feet of additional space for research labs, offices and support spaces.
The Medical Biosciences Building is a $69.5 million facility with 115,000 square feet, which will house more than 210 principal investigators in the areas of Immunology, Infectious Disease and Neuroscience. It is home to the N. Bud Grossman Center for Memory Research and Care. It is part of the Biomedical Discovery District which also includes an expansion to the Center for Magnetic Research and the existing Lions Research building and McGuire Translational Research Facility.
Three University-wide signature programs will make Northrop a hub of academic distinction: University Honors Program , the Institute for Advanced Study and the Innovation by Design Lab. The auditorium will be rebuilt and new office and classroom space will be added.
This project consists of two subprojects: Phase I, Road Improvements and Site Preparation, and Phase II, construction of the 41,000 GSF Far Dectector building. The mechanical systems for the facility include rooftop HVAC units, sump pumps,ventilation fans and related accessories.
The ST+SS building will provide for and showcase the latest pedagogical methods of science teaching and streamline student access to a full range of student services in one prominent location.
The project is to erect and connect two Vestas V82 1.65 megawatt wind turbines, one at the Morris campus (UMM) and the other at West Central Research and Outreach Center (WCROC)
